**EXPIRED** AMEX Card? Get a $25 Statement Credit for Small Business Saturday.

Folks, I just learned about the Second Annual Small Business Saturday.

Sandwiched between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, this new "shopping holiday" encourages consumers to patronize small businesses in the United States on Saturday, November 26th.

According to the Small Business Saturday Facebook page, if you register an eligible American Express card and use that card for a purchase of $25 or more at a small business on November 26, 2011, you will receive a one-time $25 statement credit.

Of course, there is always "the small print", so be sure to check out the Terms and Conditions link on the Small Business Saturday Facebook page for more info. Also, PLEASE BE SURE to check the Small Business Saturday Facebook page to see what area businesses are participating. Just because you know of a small business in town, or your friend sells plastic storage containers, make-up, or candles does not mean that his or her small business is eligible. Check the site first for participating businesses!

Also, please note, this is a statement credit. Do not expect to walk out of a store without paying anything out of pocket. You will have to use your eligible AMEX card to make the purchase. How does one know if his or her card is eligible? You have to register the card via the Small Business Saturday Facebook page. I would register BEFORE November 26th, not after. Also, the registration link from the Small Business Saturday Facebook page takes you to a secure AMEX site.

Remember, as with any sale or deal, it isn't a bargain if you had not already planned on making the purchase, or if you overspend. Make sure the purchase price, after any other coupons or discounts, is at least $25, and from what I've read, you should be set.

Enjoy!
